About Us

In 1991 the cost of petrol was 39.5p per litre, the average house price was £60,000, interest rates were 12% and ‘The Clash’ had a number 1 hit with ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go’. This was the same year that two friends, David Watkins and Tony Nelder, brought across their first consignment of Belgian chocolates from a small wholesaler, just outside of Zeebrugge.

Creme d’Or was born. The two friends had a very clear vision: To supply their customers with top quality, fresh and innovative product and to offer a level of customer service that would become the envy of others.

Over 30 years later this ethos is stronger than ever, and the ‘family’ of Creme d’Or extends from its staff to its vast array of customers throughout the UK and overseas. Creme d’Or has continued to grow from strength to strength. In 2018 Matt and Gary joined the business on the board of directors to drive this customer and product focussed vision forward.

Continuing to grow in the face of adversity that was Brexit and the COVID 19 global pandemic. Today, Creme d’Or operates from its 20,000 sq.ft. warehouse on the outskirts of Beverley in East Yorkshire, employing 30 people who make up the customer support, sales, export, product, stock procurement, accounts, and warehouse teams.

There is not a better specialist wholesaler of chocolate, confectionery and snacks with exclusive brands and licences.
